We are very proud of the responses and feedback we often receive from parents alike. They are powerful reminders of the effect our work can have with children, young people, and the communities they are part of.
“I am taking the opportunity of being on holiday to let you know that our daughter’s progress continues. She has now successfully finished her second year of medical school, has a normal BMI and tells us that she no longer gets anorexic thoughts. She also relates to the family again in a friendly, open, positive way.”
“She is very happy and has many close friends.”
“So, many, many thanks to [Dr Hind and the team] for all the help and encouragement that you gave to our family when we needed it. You are often in our thoughts!”
“Thank you for all your help and involvement with my daughter and sorting out her education. You clearly have such a keen interest in all the Ellern Mede young people and it shows in your caring approach. I know [x] wasn’t always the easiest person to work with – but you persevered and I am very grateful. She seems to have settled well back at her private school this week, and I really believe she will be happy there in the long run.”
“Hey, thanks for the reply. Aw, I’m glad you still have my sock on the wall! Haha!
Here are my GCSE results: A* – Philosophy, A* – Spanish, A* – French, A – English Language, A – English Literature, A – Maths, B – Physics, B – Biology, B – Geography, B – Music, C – Chemistry.
I was so happy when I got these results!! But I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to get these results if it wasn’t for the help, support, guidance and gentle, caring encouragement of you and your colleagues. I just want to say thank you so much to all of the teachers at the Ellern Mede school – but especially to you – as my key teacher ;). I’ve now started work on my A-Levels – English Language, English Literature and Psychology and I now appreciate what you’ve done for me even more, after experiencing the education facilities that my other unit has. Thanks so much again – the Ellern Mede school is fab!!”
“After 5 years I thought I’d write to you. I was admitted to Ellern Mede hospital when I was 17. I was in the midst of my A-levels. I’m now 22. I just really wanted to thank you for the support you have given me with my studies. I ended up with an A* at A-level. I’m attending Winchester School of Art and I’m finally learning to deal with the things I spent so long trying to escape. Onwards and upwards, maybe? Without the support I received from yourself and the teaching staff at the time I don’t think I would have kept up with my studies.”
“The headteacher and proprietor provide excellent leadership. They ensure that teaching staff and health professionals work together exceptionally well to improve pupils’ life chances. The provision for pupils’ personal development, behaviour and welfare is a strength of this school. Staff promote a caring learning environment where pupils are valued and grow in confidence. Teachers enable pupils to learn very effectively through individual timetables which take account of their health needs. Leaders ensure that pupils have access to specialist teaching and a suitable range of subjects. Pupils make substantial progress and achieve success in external examinations by the end of Year.”
