We take great pride in providing a safe, calm, and nurturing environment where children and young people can feel confident in their abilities, find their passion for learning, and reach their fullest potential as both individuals and as part of a community.
At Ellern Mede Schools, we believe that every child has the right to a high-quality education. For 20 years our schools have served the needs of some of the most vulnerable children and young people, helping them to re-engage with learning.
We take great pride in providing a safe, calm, and nurturing environment where children and young people can feel confident in their abilities, find their passion for learning, and reach their fullest potential as both individuals and as part of a community.
As Heads of Site, we believe passionately that education and health are inseparable from one another, and our schools are guided by the understanding that teaching and learning must be situated in a holistic framework that considers the broader needs of each student. As such, each of our schools has access to a high-quality team of specialists in their respective fields. Additionally, we work collaboratively with Local Authorities, families and other agencies. All of this enables us to support every child’s individual needs through specific tailor-made education.
The Ellern Mede Schools group is comprised of three different schools, across a total of five different sites. Our oldest school, the Ofsted “outstanding” Ellern Mede School, is located in North London, and is composed of three different sites: Ridgeway, Barnet, and Orange Tree.
The Ridgeway and Barnet sites cater for in-patients at the Ellern Mede Hospitals for eating disorders while the Orange Tree site, founded in late 2021, provides outstanding supportive education to young people who are not hospital-inpatients but have a variety of complex needs, such as Social, Emotional, and Mental health (SEMH), high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or multi-faceted conditions such as anxiety and depression.
Our two schools in the north of the country, Ellern Mede Moorgate School and Ellern Mede Derby School, founded in 2018 and 2022 respectively, extend our outstanding quality of specialist, therapeutic education to children and young people at Ellern Mede Moorgate Hospital and Ellern Mede Derby Hospital.
We believe that with the right care and support, and a world-class team that provides a broad and balanced curriculum with therapeutics embedded within it, our students can leave us prepared for study and work, play an active role in their communities, and lead happy, curious lives.
